Well its probably not "the best", but I use a Carter Marine mechanical on my 460 with 800 DP Holley, it has no troubles supplying enough fuel to run 5000 rpm's and has been reliable for over 3 years.

This subject comes up every other month. There are lots of good mechanical pumps for under $75 that will feed all but the most radical motors. Most are made by the same company with different name/model tags bolted to them. Do a search on "fuel pumps" and read on.

Clay Smith sells one for $100. They claim it's capable of supplying a 1300 HP alcohol engine. I figured it should be able to keep my big block fed, so I bought one.
