Thread: should I pull the valves

I am in the process of tearing a motor down that had been sunk in the lake. I have the motor mostly torn apart. Should I take the valves completely out of the heads and flush them out? I have had them soaking in a vat for about 3 days. Before that they were rinsed with diesel.

I was just thinking, the motor only has about 60 hrs on it and unless I need to check the valve guides / and or seats if I knew I had all the sand out of them I might not have to tear them all the way down. Thanks for the advice. I'll go ahead and tear them down since my boat will be in the glass shop for another week or so, probably. Better safe than sorry, I guess.
