Thread: olds 455 with Holley 650cfm carb rev problems

I finally put the boat in for the first time after nine months of being worked on. (didn't touch the engine). It won't rev over 3750 rpm's. Is there an easy fix? Do you think it could be a problem with the secondaries and/or the power valve? Thanks for any info!

I had a similar problem on a shakedown run last week. 3500 rpm max. When you were out did you look to see if the secondaries were opening under load? Mine weren't, and when I rebuilt the carb, the secondary diaphragm was torn up and leaking. Replaced the diaphragm and now it will hold vacuum. I'll find out this week if it's fixed, but with what I found, I'm sure it is.

Diggler take off the air filter and look down inside have someone step on the gas and make sure your secondaies are opening up all the way.

Or if you don't like sticking your face over the carb of an engine at full throttle, just look to see if the secondary throttle shaft moves http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif
