I have a Gen IV 468 that I purchased built for marine application, and it is in need of being refreshed. Like most, I would like more power. World Products looks to have some decent deals right now on Merlin 540 short blocks. Would anyone have any concerns with using one of these? Is there a difference with clearances or something else this short block that is intended for the strip rather than the water? I would use my current Merlin heads and would go with a Crane "741" cam. Thanks for the feedback.

The clearances are all different, as is the cam, valve materials, etc. Most crate motor sellers, including GM,Ford,Mopar, and Merlin have a warrenty disclaimer on their engines for marine use. Call during business hrs. for more info. P.S. it will help you get info easier if you post your location. Some shops won't help if you are out of their area and they know that they will never have you as a customer. TIMINATOR 623-877-8553
