I know this has notheing to do with jets but i have a little question about Catalytic Converters. I see that ther are 3 basic types. One type has the air tube on it. Can i simply cut the tube off and weld the hole shut with out affecting the funtion of the cat?

You probably wont pass the smog test if you do.
That tube is to add O2 to the Cat to burn off the extra HC's that are present in the exhaust gas.
I would not do it. It will cost you more to fix it again.

well i think it would still pass as my 87 chevy full size has a air pump that pumps air in to the exhaust manifold..
