Thread: 455 does 67@4900RPM's GPS is better acuracy

    okay guys, i'm realy sorry to me so stoburn and keep saying that i was doing 80 @ 4500 rpms i was using and indash speedomoter. and it was false. so i went to the lake with my boat and my friends HTM SS 24 and he has gps along with indash speedomoter. and i found out that i was doing 60 instead of 80 hey i took all of you guy's words's and took it out for another test so it reall goes 60 mph @4500 rpms, pushed it to 4900 and did 67. what do you guys think. thanx -Eric

    That sounds better. Like was stated in a earlier post. Lots of guys think they are ripping up the water untill they are holding a GPS. 67 mph still ain't too bad for a heavy Olds motor.

    Eric, 67 MPH from a basically stock 455 is damn good! My last jet boat, a 1978 19FT Bahner with a Lew Larson BUILT LS-6 454, tunnel ram, dual 750 DP Holleys, MSD ignition, Berkley JC and place diverter would only do 74 MPH (approx 5200-5500RPM)on GPS. So I would be really proud of a stock Olds 455 pulling 67...

    yea i know i was still surprised at 67 so i tried it again and still got 67 almost 68 but didnt push it. you knwo i dont want to turn another rod! hahaha. yea it does good for an olds. i dont want to spend anymore money on the engine man i've spend like 2300 dollors on this engine and man i want a new boat to work on now.

    Yeah ! I got "Humbled" last year , speedo said 65mph at 4k gps said 59 , stock 350 will be upgraded next summer ! I want 70 !
