Is it just me or does anyone else have problems with their starter solenoid going out regularly???? I run a 460 Ford in my 1978 Nordic with O/T aluminum wet exausts. The solenoid is mounted at the rear of the engine and on the head (the original wiring places it in this location) so I mounted it to a long bolt with nylon washers to isolate it from heat and vibration (???????). Still, I need to replace it every season (about 20 hours use). This is not a big problem but it is certainly irritating. Any suggestions??? or is this a standard problem. had the same problem there chief. until I switched to a starter for a 1973 model 460. it has the solenoid attached to the starter much like a GM starter. had no more problems since. hooks up just like a GM with the one solenoid wire and you are ready to go. Saved me alot of headaches. Go to auto parts and ask for a starter for 1973 one ton ford pickup with 460. I got mine at Orielly's. I think it cost a whopping $39.95 with a lifetime warrantee. good luck....
