Thread: Pulley removal

I have to remove the pulley from the power steering in the boat so I can polish it when I get home. Do I need a special puller like you do in a car or is a boat different. I'd rather stop and get the puller on the way home instead of having to run back out. Any help would be great.

A pic of the pump would help. If it is anything like the ones on cars, yes. The special tool (rentable many places) grips the center arround the shaft. Don't grab the pulley arround the outside edge, or you will need a new one.

slss is correct as usual...the right tool makes all the difference in the world when it comes to mechanical stuff..
