Thread: Parker Labor Day Weekend Report

Not too bad of a Holiday Weekend. The parks, Resorts and other establishments were pretty busy. Most boats were either going somewhere, rafted, beached, or floating, and not just cruising, for cruising's sake. Gas prices probably had a lot to do with it.
    Only 4 accidents to report.
PWC ran into an anchored boat up by the Dam on Saturday. 17 year old female rider. First time on one. No injuries. She got cited.
Ski boat ran over a couple people on an inner tube by Buckskin Park, Saturday about noon. 1 victim airlifted out. 1 other minor injury.
PWC spraying dock at Fox's Sunday, ran into the side of a docked boat. PWC split. We found him. .16% BAC. He went to jail.
3 people thrown from a boat about 6:15 PM Sunday night. Boat split. 1 person, again airlifted out with serious injuries. 2 others with minor injuries. Took a few hours, but we found the boat driver. Just enough time to try and sober up and get the BAC down. That part's still under investigation. The only arrest on this, so far, was a guy who was with him when it happened. We caught up with him at the hospital. He gave us a description of the boat and driver 180 degrees out from what it actually was. It's not nice to lie to the police.
Pulled in about 8 OUIs, including Rufus from the Fox's hit and run. Average BAC was .16%. Highest .195% Lowest .096%.
All in all not too bad of a weekend. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm glad the season's almost over. We can step back and catch our breath and look forward to Spring Break.
For those who were out here, thanks for doing your part and keeping it somewhat sane.
On a sadder note. A local man, Director at the Parker Indian Hospital (and my wife's Boss), and his wife were killed friday afternoon when an 18 year old crossed the centerline and hit them head on. This happened on Hwy 89 near Ash Fork, Az. Their 18 year old Daughter is hospitalized in Phoenix with serious injuries.

Thanks Alan for the update, this story I don't understand. He turned to sharp lost people from his boat and kept going?

Boatcop, thx for the update...one question, there was another incident at Foxes Saturday afternoon where a boat leaving and driving too close bumped a nice HTM...and then split...another patron jumps in his boat catches the boat and flags down police to get the offending boat, and boatcops pull over the boat right in front of Foxes and take the driver away...it was kind of ironic that the guy got hooked up right in front of the scene of the crime...That was great.
Also, some where around 06:00pm on Sunday Boatcops (not sure which cops) boarded a 23-25 cabin cruiser around Moonridge and drove the boat south along the river...What was the incident there?

Not sure about that one, or who it may have been. Around 6, all my guys were looking for the Force that pitched the people out. Might have been Game and Fish.
I've been after the Casino and the Tribes to get the NO WAKE bouys properly in place for over a year now. They keep dragging their feet. The next step will be to let the Coast Guard, Corps of Engineers and US Fish and Wildlife know what they're NOT doing.
They don't realize that that by not doing what they're supposed to be doing regarding the Moovalya Marsh, they're jeopardizing all the Regattas and events that are held there. The regulatory folks are going to stop approving the permits, and then where will they be?

Boat Cop: Jim Wilkes here. Can you tell me the diffeence between an DUI, OUI & a BUI? Are they all the same with different penalties? Just wanted to know for my own information.
    Thanks
