okay, i'll look for one for ya also...LOL
I have a friend of mine wanting to sell his 470. All new parts inside. eagle 4340 int. bal. crank. eagle 3d rods. srp (i think) pistons Dart heads, and intake, w/ his custom injection (toiletbowl). i think he said 6k for the complete engine. If you or anyone else is interested let me know. This motor should make around 750hp (alky inj.) 14.5:1 compr.
(Compression a little high for an everyday boat.)
He may also want to sell his 572. It has some really kick ass parts in it. It's just a back up for his 598.
p.s. i do have a 4blt. 454(genIV) bored .060, but it has 2 sleeves(done correctly),and a little spot chip in between the cylinders (gasket should seal) Been bored, lined honed, squared, decked , fully race prepped. 400.00 takes it home.

I'd like to figure out how he got 14.5:1 compression with a Chevy style head.

    Gary, what do you mean?
14.5:1........on a high dome piston. w/ dart heads. That's nothing. His 598 is 15:1 compr.
    I have a 496 w/ brodix 2x heads w/ 14:1 compression.
    both motors are alcohol injected.
    am i missing something???
Open chamber heads that have the pistons cut for tolerance.
    my cam is a 748/714 110lobe
his cam in the 598 is 810/800 110 lobe
the 470 is a 720/710 (i think, or close to it)

What you are saying is easily done with the big bore/long stroke application, but try crunching numbers to see what it takes with a 4.310 bore and 4.00 stroke.About all the piston dome you can stuff into let's say a 108 cc combustion chamber is about 44.6 cc.Figure a .039 head gsket.14 to 1 is tough. We got 14.02 with our old PLJ motor with a 99.8 cc combustion chamber in a angle milled 990 Chevy head.I'm running Pro 1's now, angle milled all we can and we are at 13.8 to one. Try running some of these numbers through your calculator and see what I'm talking about.Keep in mind on the bigger cubic inch motor, the reason you can get higher compression numbers is that you are packing more cylinder volume into relatively the same compressed area as the smaller motor.

Damn, Gary.... you just blew me away... eek! LOL
I don't know much about engines, i just try to tear em' up.. (i'm good at that). I leave all that stuff to the Fraziers, and Reher-Morrison..
You sound like you definately know your stuff. I respect that!
All we run in our dragsters are big cubes and stroker motors, cause it sounds cool, and goes fast.
    catch ya later, bro.
