I have a v drive HP boat that I plan on taking to FL in November - it might be a screwy question BUTTT do you have to worry about hitting gators and messing up the boat? OR should you just keep that prop knife-edged and then -- "what-me-worry" ??

You are not going to hit any gators, it is unlikely you will see any anywhere you will be boating. You can take an airboat tour if you want to see some gators. In winter, there will be some speed zones to protect manatees. The only thing you might hit is a sandbar. Enjoy!

Where you planning on visiting, might be able to recommed some spots for you. Gators are no worry unless you start feeding them. Worry more about Hydrilla in fresh water and marine patrol and jet skiers everywhere else. Some of the rivers you need to be careful because of manatees too!
