Bought a Questar drop down monitor and dvd for the truck, wired in the drop down t.v. exactly as the directions reads, and the hot wire and negative wire went up in smoke! I double checked my wiring loom, and all was correct, red positive, and black negative.
Does anyone know if you have a dc cord, and the directions ask you to cut off the end, and hard wire the red and black,if that is correct? I always thought ac current and dc current are different, and are not compatable by chopping off the end to hard wire. The directions told me to do this, and I think this is why I had "fire in the hole"!
AND, the dvd player didn't work either!
Should have bought sony!

Don't shop at Fry's. I can tell many stories about the lack of respect and service you get there. There business practices are awful.
I don't know if you should have bought a Sony, but there are several good mobile video mfg's....
Was it a 12volt monitor? The DC cord his throwing me off.....
