Just stay on the 15 til you get to the 40...thats the fastest..other routes are all 2 lane roads and not as quick.

If there is any traffic on 40 I think it makes sense to cut through Amboy, and 29 Palms. I take 15 to 215, east on 60 to 10 then north through Morongo Valley, to the road to Amboy, follow it to the 40. It drops you out two offramps from the River road. Then 10 minutes to Avi or 15 more to Laughlin.
Unless you really drive the posted limit, it saves about 30 minutes if there is no traffic, more if there is. It is true that the roads are two lanes, but they are desolate. Tow along at 80 mph. Non towing.....as fast as you want to go. Never seen a cop out there either. The trip is a hell of a lot more interesting too. A little slow through 29 Palms, but its only a few miles.
After getting stuck for 1 1/2 hours in traffic on 40 one time, I always go this way.

Amboy is the better way. IMO.
We go thru needles and up the Ariz. side hit the new Expressway and it drops You off right at the bridge that Don built. No traffic. Haul A$$!
If YOU don't have a slip and are Launching at Katherine's Ya better get up early. The line gets LONGGGGGGGG!
