In that series the photo's are arranged the oppposite. As if they are indeed pulling the truck out.
The rope adds some credence to that.

It looks like the photos are reversed, he is being pulled out, water is running out from the bottom of the front door, and the front tire is wet, the truck looks wet also, and there is the tow rope... Wow, I should be on CSI....
