In 1988 I had a neat idea. I thought of a way to
protect the sides of my skiboat from the guide-
poles on the trailer. back then, when you bought
a tournament-type boat, the trailers had a short
peice of black-pvc pipe for protection from touching the sides of the boat with the pipe.
I bought some heavy cordura nylon fabric, and some
pipe insulation and had my sister sew-up a couple
of "tubes" from the fabric. then you unroll the
"tube" over the insulation onto the section of
pvc pipe. then the whole thing just slides over
the pipe on the trailer.
It served 2 purposes. the insulation made the
whole thing float (you'll never loose them) and
since they float, they sort of auto-expanded in
length for those steep boat ramps......
now, can anyone really remember these being around
prior to 1988-? I never ever saw a pair like mine. now, they're friggen on EVERY BOAT TRAILER.

bucks in the aftermarket guide-tube market.....
