I had a 94 f-150 with the 302 and man was it a dog! The weak link on those trucks, as with most trucks, is the trans. Add a good trans cooler and it keep it out of overdrive unless you are towing down hill. What happens with that trans is the clutches and gears don't get a lot of oil especially in overdrive so when the trans starts searching for gears they heat up real quick and fail. A friend of mine is a trans tech for ford and when he rebuilt his trans he added some oil passages so the overdrive cluthes and gears would get more oil
