I just bought a 2003 Chevy with a 4800 motor. I think it will make the ride to needles towing the Wetdawg (20' Southwind)
    Any opinions? devil

I have the 6.0 in mine and it pulls my 22' like it's not even there, so I would imagine your 4.8 pulling the 20' wouldn't be TOO much different. It should be fine for what YOU use it for.

How's your fuel milage? I bought a 6.0 L this last spring and sold after 6 months, because it just about killed me for gas. I went back to a Ford deisel. I have been a Chev guy for 25 years in the oil patch, driving 50 to 70 K a year but I bought a Ford 2001, then sold it after getting a overseas job, only to miss the pulling power. Chev is losing a lot of long time die hards in the Alberta oil industry due to shitty milage, and light duty trucks. It seems that they are building their trucks for highway driving and not work. I'm not bashing yours, just tossing in my buck and a half.

WD, the 40 shouldn't be a problem. The only hill that may suck is the first one coming home out of Needles. Long son of a bitch!!
JB, I know you're not bashing, I pretty much agree. The mileage is pretty crappy, but for what I use it for I love the truck. The boat is the heaviest thing I pull with it and like I said pulls it effortlessly. A friend of mine has an F250 Super Duty with the big V8 which pretty much tows the same as mine. I do think however, mine is more comfortable, but his has a much better ride and gets slightly better mileage. Mine will just last a lot longer.
As far as the 6.0 not being available in 2003, mine is a 2003 and I have it.
    elim777, no shit!!

riverlife, The chevs are alot nicer riding and have a nicer interior. My dog liked the fold down back seat alot better in the chev, but since she don't pay for it, I choose the truck!

Just proves you cant trust the dealer. He told me that the only option was ether the 5.3 or a 8.1. He said the 6.0 was only avalable in the 2500 & 3500 models
Oh well If it doesnt pull like I want it's gone!
Nothing can replace the old "RVR DAUG"
