Brian,
I will be in Hav this weekend...and will bring a tape measure to check it out for ya.
Report on sunday.

I'm thinking of doing a shorter lower unit since mine's all banged up and I'm curious as to where some other Magics have their drives mounted. Mine's about 16" from the driveshaft centerline to the bottom of the notched transom. That puts my propshaft 3" below the bottom of the V pod when it's trimmed parallel. Anyone have a tape measure handy?
I suppose the same question applies to other boats that share the same full depth V center pod design, like Talon, Conquest, AO, etc.
I wouldn't mind picking up a few mph by raising the X a little, but not if it's going to start causing problems at low speed or getting on plane.
Thanks!

Thanks Larry, I'll look forward to it.
Be more careful than I was last time at Havasu... wouldn't want to see another Magic with a munched up drive!

You want a shorter "lower unit"?

I'll have the mechanic donate the old parts to Boozer so he can have more.

What Happened?
Found a rocky shallow spot up in speed alley... oops. Folded up the tips of the prop blades, bent the shaft, and took some big chunks out of the skeg. Feelin' like a rookie these days!
Doghouse, how is your boat coming on plane?

It doesn't do so well with half the prop missing.
Normally it's great, hooks right up and goes with a 28 Bravo I. Just trying to gather a little data before deciding on a change, if any. I have seen at least one other Magic with the drive mounted about 1" higher than mine, but several that were lower.

Bummer...sorry to hear that.
I had better watch myself up there this weekend. :eek!:
