I have a set of bbc 049 casting heads and moretec's website says they are 119 cc heads but I found on another website that says 049 castings are 113 cc heads. does anyone here know which one is accurate? and if they are 113 cc heads how much compression could I drop if I went to 122 cc heads?
Currently running about 10.2 maybe 10.5 on 049 heads

I have a set of these exact heads. 049 castings are probably the best OEM oval heads that chevrolet made. They flow very well after some clean up porting as well as the installation of bigger (IN. 2.19/EX 1.88) valves. There an open chamber head as well. The combustion chamber volume varies on these heads anywhere from 114 to 119 cc's. The only way to find out what you have is to cc the heads or at least one chamber on each head. Mine came out to 120 cc's but the chambers were polished and also unshouded for the bigger valves that were installed. Hope this helps...

I agree with JimB. Nice heads to work with.
I had them too. mine were 119.
But I heard you can get them smaller too?!?
You can check the CC's with a simple kit you can buy from the big parts houses. Its EASY!

CC em all. You'll be surprised at how much they vary. Even the best aftermarket heads.
