A few people last summer tried to tell that the low water pickup Bravo 1's are one to two MPH slower than the regulars! Is there any truth to this?

    Jeff,
I switched to Low water pickup. But I don't have an answer for you as I repowered the same year.... I do know you must, and I mean MUST. Keep that pickup out of the sand... T

You will suck sand into your motor, and a sea strainer will not help much if any. I always try to start in water at least 4'-5' deep. If I am beached I will push off into deeper water before I start. As far as speed goes, I don't know if they are slower or not but with a high x-dimension you need one.

check out www.eddiemarine.com (http://www.eddiemarine.com) and look under nose cones one of the statements says that you can gain 2-8 mph. that would make them faster to answer your question. Finally
