You read my mind! Thats the side I wanted to see! What size plate is that? Looks like 3/8 maybe?
thanks!
Squirtcha has a nice rail kit i think. I remember seeing his alternator mounted to the front plate. Maybe he can post a picture of his.
Not that HB does not have a nice on cause its bitchin.
Randy,
Is that rail kit from MPD?
If not who made it?
Brent
I beleive RANDY bought it from Tom Papp if i am not mistaken. It is a lightning mfg.

You could use 3/8 alum. plate for the motor plates, 2 x 2 x 1/4 structural alum. for the rails and 1/4 x 2 alum. for the backing plates if you chose that route instead of just using stringer washers. Rex has the pillow blocks,Mpd may have them as well.
It looks pretty trick when you mill the slots into the rails and backing plates, i havent gotten around to milling mine.I also like the look when the rail is about 1/2 inch below the top of the stringer like in these photos.

Notice the 3/8 bolts that mount the rails, they are offset of each other for strength . take your time and think it all out before you start drilling.Check for things like the bolts holding the pillows blocks to the rails interfering with the bolts coming through the stringer, get long enough bolts that will stick out past the nylock nut at least 1/4 inch.Have fun.
Lightning makes a nice rail kit.

I have pics of mine on my website, but nothing on ***boat.
Not as much bling as MPD'S.

Brian, how well do those urethane mounts hold up on your rail kit? Have you tested the difference between the solid mounts? Any difference in vibration? How much?
