what do they really weigh?

Can anyone post the weights of different engines (sbc,bbc,bbf,olds,or others)?Lots of talk about weight savings with sbc vs. bbc.What are the #'s? Trying to figure out which motor to put in my new jet also,came with sbc hookups but have always had big blocks.My new boat is a TX-19 youngblood and it will be my hotrod boat.can we see some #'s please?

Thats good now how much would I save with alum. heads? What is the weight differance of BBC stock heads & BBC iron heads?SBC stock & alum.? BBF stock & alum. ?

Rogers,
BBC al heads save about 70 lbs.
SBC al heads save about 50 lbs.
But your block and other things affect total weight. My 540 weighs about 725 with al heads compared to HBjets 468 weighing 750 with iron heads. Only a 25 lb difference. That because I have a heavier Dart block. My old 454 weighed 750 with iron heads...same as HBjets.
In the end, a small block with aluminum heads could save you the weight of a pax. That may improve your top speed by 5 mph or more with the same hp.
Weight is very important to small jet boat performance. You can look up weight on the net.
