I've been told its easier to upgrade from an Alpha 1 to a Bravo 1 Drive....Is that true?. Do the holes line up? I was told you just drill one more hole....Mike.

I'm looking at a boat with a High performance Alpha 1 drive with a EFI 350 that makes a "so called" 320 hp. My question is what do they do or can they do to make a Alpha 1 high performance and is 320 hp too much for a Alpha 1 drive?

Before the Bravo, Mercruser offered a Big Block Alpha which had 1.3:1 gears rather than the 1.5:1
Thats what I have on my Carlson. The previous owner installed it after he fried the original drive with a twin turbo 350. Gear changing is very stiff. He said because of gear ratio change??
I have not played with the shifting problem yet.
www.bravoshop.com offers a alpha to bravo kit, $1000+.
