Thread: Difference Between Bravo 1 and Bravo 1X

I once heard that the 1X was originally for diesels but I seem to see a lot of new boats now coming with these drives behind the 496HO's. Internal differences? External differences? Are the parts interchangable - i.e. can a Bravo 1 be upgraded to a 1X? Anybody out there know?

E502 - Yes...a B1 and B1X are interchangable. The difference between the two can be seen here (http://go-fast.com/mercruiser_bravo_sterndrives.htm) .

I'm interested NOT in the interchangability of the complete drive but with the components inside such as gears, if different.

That I am not sure of.
