To get a better idea where to have this event, let's figure out where people are looking to spend the nights.

It would work for me on the weekend of 5/22-3. A few others could make it work, too.
This IS kinda close to parker, isn't it?
Here's a map I made to figure out what's where (since I can't find one, I tried to piece one together). Is it close to the right locations, and where is Twin Palms?
Dave, you must have spent some time south of Parker. Do you have a favorite?

Twin palms is a few miles south of aha quin, maybe 3 or 4 miles.
If the gathering was held at LL or twin palms, those that wanted to get a room in town could do that, since its only like 15 miles up the the 95 into Blythe. Those that want to bring their 5th wheels could keep em at the park, and some could camp in tents if they wanted to.
Here are some Maps. I took pics of my map I got from AAA.
Here we go.
This is the Paker strip. You can see the lower dam where the highway crosses. The dam is just above that.

This is from the lower parker dam to lost lake. The arrow by the top of the page is pointing to Big river. The lower arrow is pointing to Lost lake.

This one shows Lost lake to Twin palms. Same deal, lower arrow is pointing to twin palms. Ana Quin is just upriver from Twin Palms, right by the Island in the river.

Here is Twin palms to just above Blythe. You can see the dam. Look to the left of the "A" in Arizona. There is the dam.

Looks like CS19 is on the right track with Twin Palms. Close to Aha Quin, Blythe, and sand bars. Hope there's more sand than rocks there.
I'll check into Twin Palms and see what facilities they have. Sounds like this would be a kidless weekend
I voted for an RV deal. I would also vote for Big River. Lots of RV spaces and that part of the river has 2 sandbars, when the water is up the lowest areas are like 6-8 feet, if you stay down the middle you will never have a problem. I also would maybe vote for 2 weekends before memorial, that way you don't have back to back weekends of boating trips, some poeple can't get 2 weekends off work or they will get in a situation where they have to choose what weekend to take a trip on and most likley pick memorial, etc... But I am down for anything, but like the Big River idea.

I'll make some calls this weekend and see if there's any advantage to Twin Palms over Big River. So, let me recap. Our priorities are:
Local bar (like how that's listed first? )
Sand not rocks
Sand bars
Close motels
Close launch ramp
Distant LE
Deep (relatively speaking) water
Close to an area for speed runs with out running someone's sorry ass over, or roosting the innocent slower boats.
Without lake lice
So based on these criteria, do you think Twin Palms or Big River has the advantage overall?
If its big river me and at least 4 other boats would show , If that means any thing. It would be cool to meet some new people. The in the Big River park are use to these deals.
