That lincoln is from my hometown and has been at all the local car shows. I was standing by the owner at a show and heard a interesting story from him. The custom hot rod intake manifold (as you would assume) for a flathead V-12 is not something you find at PEP boys. Some old salt flats racer from the old days made 12 custom intakes for a V-12 flathead. After the racer was no longer competitive, the manifolds sat in his shop for years, untill some rich guy finds out about them and contacts the old dude and wants to buy them from him cost no object. Somewhere along the line the after pestering the old dude , he gets pist off and tells the rich A-hole that he will never sell him the parts. Along comes the builder of the Lincoln and somehow hears about the manifold, and contacts the old dude. After talking with this guy, and telling him he is not connected to the A-hole, the old dude sells him 1 manifold. The old dude then contacts the A-hole and tells him he will give him the rest of the one- of- a- kind pieces free. The manifolds arrived at the A-hole's with a tape showing them being cut up into pieces and melted down just enough to be worthless aluminum junk. I cant verify all this but it made a interesting story to listen to. I wonder if the A-hole is the buyer of the 400 grand car just to show the old dude?
