A 6" LAYER of mat and a 5" layer overthat with cloth should hold right? and were to get supplies and tools without paying a fortune? who makes a good poly resin(easy to work with)
Lets see some pictures. You might need some help from a pro, no? There's lots of peeps who can give you some guidance if necessary.
Let see the damage!!

Last season my sisters boat got about an 8 inch by 1 inch hole slashed in its side by an aluminum swim step. My brother in-law took it to a place out here who patched it and matched the gel coat for only about $200. If you want I can find out for you what the name and location of the place is.
P.S. He was sent there by our boat mechanic, so it is a place with experience in marine work.

What a crummy job that must be. reminds me of the time I fixed a house footing under it we had to watch for a lot of B widows and qwork in impossible possitions

I`ve never worked with gelcote and my boat is not the place to practice. Thats for sure!
Dang OD, that's prettty serious. You might need to have the whole top removed and then you can get to the inside and then they reseal the whole top.
Get that info from Eliminatedsprinter and also there's a guy on the boards called Toddnjuzz. Send Todd a pm and he can take care of it. He'll tell you what it will cost and that's what it will cost.
Good luck.

Whew that's a bit more than an 8 inch slash. I'll try to get that info for you tonight and post it for you tomorrow.
