I think it a little more than just cutting the deck, if done right
you will need some glass work & bulkheads added.

in this months hot boat mag this guy had a closed bow day curiser and cut it out and now its an open bow. is there any shops that would do that kind of work? and how much?

I've done a couple of these. Call joe but know what you want to do and where you want it cut. Best to talk to who ever is going to do the upholstery first because there is a couple of ways to do it.
I had my 26' closed bow made into an open bow right after I bought it. D&S Marine in Riverside did it and they did an excellent job. I have seen all the negative posts about D&S on the boards, but I was very happy with their job...it was right around $2000.

S & S Upholstery in Havasu has done a bunch of them for about $2,000 to $3,000.
