If you have to be sold on the idea then it's prolly not for you.
Ok, here's the deal. I've had nothing but jets, currently have 3.
I like the way a jet handles, I like reverse and I really like the safety factor of no prop...I have kids. I'm really not into going real fast and I like cruising with about 5 people.
What are the pros and cons?

Question: Would you like to cruise all weekend on 12 gallons of gasoline? We race all weekend and play and still only use 9! How's that for a reason?
Sounds like your happy.
And should spend more time at the Jet boat forum.
V-drives are for a different breed.
I am single. And like the speed and danger.
V-drives take more to drive. The prop grabs hold and the nose comes up.
We have to use the cavitation plate to control the boat and get it set.
V-drives and jet are two different animals.
Like I said. You sound very happy with the jets.

I tried to talk a guy out of a 1977 21' Eliminator v-drive, gel was great and the interior was in decent condition, no motor though. I got up to $5K and he still wouldn't sell it.
I be thinking that be a rare puppy! they sure are up here!
If this wont sell Ya, Nothin Will!

What are the pros and cons? Cas, Driving a flat is nothing like driving a jet. You would need to drive [not ride] a flat to appreiate the difference. I don't buy that lame arguement of the safety factor, nobody should be near the drive of any boat regardless of propultion. In fact I've seen more people hurt from the jet or outdrive hanging off the back of the boat when they jump off the back and hit the drive because they misjudged the distance. At least a v-drive everything is under the boat except the cav. plate. But if you are thinking safety factor while the boat is underway and you hit someone the spinning prop is the least of their worrys, there is a whole lot of hull to do damage before they reach the prop. With all the things you like about a jet then I think a v-drive wouldn't do much for you.
