Thread: Solar charger?

Does anyone here use a solar charging system on a boat that doesn't have a charging system?
I'm thinking of trying one to charge my Optima when the boat is sitting at the dock and I'm not running it. It could just sit on the seat and plug into an accessory outlet.
The only power requirements the boat will have during the day are a depth sounder and ignition (both only draw when the boat is running, of course). At night, there are running lights and gauge lighting but I don't do much of that except taking the boat to the ramp for retrieval.

    Tom-
Actually I was thinking you could mount a wind turbine to your ski pole. That way your battery would get charged not only when it is used but on windy days too. Can't go wrong there.
