Thanks Hud for posting those pics of the boats from NZ on your wild v-drives thread. I thought I'd have a go at posting a reply on this thread and see if I can attatch another couple of photos for you guys to see. The pic's you've seen so far are the USA influenced hull that is common here. The other that is used here is the Aussie log or skiff. Here is a shot of our Top ProStock boat in NZ. (Prostock here in NZ is Inboard RR, 6 litre, single 850cfm carb, no roller cams) This boat "Cut Loose" is a 16ft childsplay boat built in Melbourne, Australia and run by Gary "Goose" Gregory. He is also our current National Unlimited Runabout Champion as he beat a couple of Big Block boats on points by being consistently in the places during the heats. Boat runs at 100mph in race trim.
Cool to see that we've got a response from an expat kiwi in Burbanite, I would be interested in some of his memories of racing here. As he said the K's and hydros on the same bill is often the case but currently only one K-Boat running here, as all the other V8 RR's run in the 2 restricted classes we have. The K-boat we have here many of you in the USA may know as it is a Revenge and was K-7 "Krazy Kanook" (excuse my spelling if this is wrong).
Most regattas have a King of the River or Lake type tace which sees the fastest qualifyers from all classes go head to head and we have anything and everything in these races sometimes. Hydros from 2 litre, threw to GP up against V8 inboard runabouts, Formula 1 tunnels and the odd quick outboard mono just to add to the mix at times makes for some pretty exciting racing.

    Welcome Razors Edge,
thanks for sharing some of your exploits, as you can tell by Hud's efforts, we love pictures so keep em coming.
I raced (dare I say it here in the vdrive section) jets with the Streets, Cromies etc way back when. No matter what, we were on the water every waking moment doing something. You will no doubt remember the Knight family, Peter Snr and Jnr with their hydros, I caught up with Jnr a few years ago while I was in Australia for a race.
Lake Kaniere, the New Brighton Powerboat club races on the estuary they all are still fixed in my memory.
This is "The Boss" running through the rollers, he held the 1986 world record at 178 mph...

An old picture of Snr in "Road Runner", 1978 NZ Masport Cup winner...

"Gone Heavy", this one toured Canada, the US and Australia as well as competing at home in NZ...

Jnr in "The Godfather", multiple NZ Masport Cup winner, I believe it may still hold the Australian 6ltr record at 146 mph ...

Jnr took the boat to Canada a few years ago and won with it there as well...
