My mr would like to replace his V6 engine with a V8 engine in about 1-3 years, does anyone know if this can be done, and if so, would anything else need to be changed out? Thanks for your help

bottom line is the smog laws in good ole california say:
NOPE!
must retain all original equipment.

It's probably a Seaswirl. In that case cut off the back of the boat
and put on a new one.
