Kinda green lookin but still a good lookin lake.
I've heard there is old town in tact under water, somewhere near a bridge that occasionaly shows when the water is down???
Any truth to this.
It would be well worth the trip to scuba dive on it if it's true.
Note to self: No dive-dive near the hole!!! Greg, The town at the bottom of Berryessa was called Montecello. During the drought in the mid 90s and the lake was 79' down what was left of the town was exposed. There is just building foundations and a couple of bridges left, any building material that could float was removed before the lake filled. In the early days of Berryessa tree trunks from orchards floated to the surface and did alot of damage to passing boats, I guess it was too much trouble to dig up all the tree trunks.

Greg, New Melones Res is the same way, old town and old stamp mill, lots of old foundations still there under the Bridge toward Angels Camp. Back in 92 (I think) lake was really low and I got an old map and we went riding quads out there and checking out the old stuff, it was pretty cool to compare the pics to what it used to be.
If there was no turbine at the bottom, that would be one hell of a ride!!!!!!

I wonder if they can raise and lower that concrete intake or if its just a permanently fixed height?
The Glory Hole concrete structure is fixed and essentially serves at the spillway.

Those are cool pictures. Has any one ever ened up checking out that glory hole to close. It doesn't seem like there is to much protection around it.

The orange string of floatation devices in the left of the photo is all there is for protection. My friend has had his boat up to that point; boat drifted in the direction of the Glory Hole. He got the heebie-jeebies, started his boat and punched it outta there.

Rexone, this is indeed funny.
And just to let everyone know (in case the above pic thorws anybody off), the Glory Hole is about 30-feet in diameter and could swallow a boat.

Oh, one more thing:
talked to my Frind Toby last night. Toby has a trailer at Monticello Resort. Lake level is so overfilled that they had to pull the trailer forward and up to the road in the resort. His deck was in water and the water came up to the road.
