Well we did it. 468 Alcohol Chevy, Dart intake, two XM Dominators....1075HP@7300RPM. The previous run was 945HP with BG carburetors, switched to the newer TPC XMs and wham! 100+HP
Just for the record they bolted on, jetted at 0.185" each corner and with only one change of the high speed air-bleed.
It was real exciting to get the news yesterday as well as all the shots. Not to mention a NA 468!!! You won't catch me next to the motor in a dyno at 7000+

Congrats on the numbers. What class is that in 2wheel drive? I have several customers that build pull truck engines. Most are a 5800Lbs 2W class. OEM Castings and block. Have to run a solid flat tappet.
If you can say, what kind of compression with that engine, Hot?

Well let's put it this way, he's detonation free on this set-up. I wish I could share some of the "part"iculars but this is a very competitive application for Doug and he would probably hang me for telling.
Yes it surprised me some as well on the application as a whole. Doug and I went back and forth for about 3 weeks on what he wanted.
BG told him to stay with the little Alky BG Claws750s he had and said that going to a Dominator would show horrific undesirable results...(well I wonder what they meant by that)...
Chuck Nuytten recommended the 950s and agreed with BG in that the Dominators would be overkill.
Then after our third conversation Doug took more interest in my reasoning for the HP Dominators. Originally I thought we'd go to the 1150s with a larger booster skirt to keep the signal strong, but after some proprietary insight from Hank over at Braswell, he told me that going into the 1150 could be avoided with some booster modifications and metering block work and ultimately save the client some cash.
The ticket to this XM Dominator is the metering block. It's like no other 3-circuit you're used to seeing on the market. The 3-circuit billet version has a divorced idle circuit so when you're tuning it on the dyno you can accurately tune each circuit without direct effect of the other, IE the idle and intermediate circuit. This extra capacity billet block is designed by one of the best and was just released Fall 2003.
This carburetor package I engineered has proven to be beneficial for all alcohol applications as well as the forced induction crowd where reliable fuel distribution is the key under sustained boost conditions.
Nonetheless I was stoked to see the numbers. Doug thought we'd break 1100HP but I was skeptical. It's not NOS so I was a little reserved in saying that we'd gain another 100+HP...but hell. I suppose his application was off all together from the get go. I believe the truck is making even more power on the track now with open headers and colder air. That Dyno room isn't the best set-up, no control over the air and the exhaust headers weren't complimentary of his application.
My advice was to jet up again on the track and watch the altitude densisty calculations. Alcohol is little more forgiving then gas but nonetheless it needs to be on the money.

Why didn't you use a Ford? Didn't have Einstein around to help tune it?
On a couple different threads you bash Chevy, and then without skipping a beat you start a thread about this 1100HP BBC. Interesting stand. Did you have your chevy engine builder (the guy from your other thread) come over and tune the carbs for you?

I don't think the carbs did crap ....
It was the addition of the Velocity stacks that made the extra 100 ponies........

    Jordy...
Just FYI...wasn't my motor or truck. It was simply just amazing that a 468 cubed motor could hold that much HP. But thanks for the insight.
