Nice boat good buy 76cole. It looks like the bottom is more like a TR2 then a TR1. All the TR1s I have seen the plates go to the out side the boat. Maybe some one has change the bottom? What do you think Fiat48

I looked at that boat when it was in Simi Valley a few months ago. Boat is a TR1 but has had the drop chines added to give it air traps like a TR2. The runner is not quite as deep as a TR2. Chines and bottom work was done by Jim Lange so it should set and work well.
thanks for the compliment on the boat. fiat48 helped me alot with the decision to buy this boat it will be alot different from what i am used to. i will be putting in a bbc 468 at first. when i learn to drive it better it will get a blown 468 thats in the works right now.
i am looking for some plates right now for it. i got some templates made so if i do not find any all ready made i will get some made.
the boats in great shape just need a little cleaning and the engine and some different gears in the v-drive and i should be all set to go.

Yep, Jim pretty good at what he does. He did my Canyon years ago and although it went a little faster, you could chime it real quick if you got off the plate just a little too soon. Took a long time for me to adjust but you could run big numbers in "flight mode" in the lights.
But I'm sure Jim had many styles in which he did the bottoms. Might get lucky and bump into him at the Long Beach swap meet this weekend. If I do, I'm gonna ask him about this bottom.
Never seen a plate adjusted this way. I've always adjusted mine from front (34' forward of the plate) to back ( end of the plate), but never run a straight edge as a balance level from left to right. Please explain......Fiat...

Well, I know you mean 34 inches and that's the way it's done far as I know. Not sure what ColeTR1 is doing there. Perhaps he'll tell us.
What TR1 s doing is setting the plates then checking to see if the plate is flat going across after. It is just a more precise way of doing it. It makes you check over and over and over......If the bottom is true and you set the plates correctly, the plates should be level all the way across each individual plate.
