For an naturally aspirated motor most the time a stainless valve (like manley severe duty) will suffice.
Stock and mild perf motors may not even need stainless depending on what you're doing with the engine.
Blown or Turbo go Inconel (like manley extreme duty or equivilent).
I have not run Titanium so I won't comment on the need for them.

IMHO, I'd play it safe and go with the Inconel exhaust, blown or not. My buddy broke a Manley Severe Duty on his unblown 580. Granted it was run hard for a year, but the damage they do when they break justifies the extra cost.

Look to Ferrea for your valve needs. They beat the competition hands down!! I went round and round looking for valves, and comparing the same type of material, Ferrea's looked the best. Also Dick Landy racing uses them in their high dollar engines. Thier E6000 series should stand up to the harshest of marine conditions.
