dont get me wrong, I am not for Gov. controle on everything and I think people should be able to broadcast what ever. like howard stern. If he is on the air I know what to expect and may or may not change the station. But to say it is okay to pop a tit out on national TV is nothing short of BS.

I never referred to janet. But can you tell me where one draws the line? A person may think Stern is indecent so we take him off the air. (Can anyone pinpoint what he has said or done that is indecent according to law) It's being based on a few select people's opinion. Like I said some people I sure are also of the opinion that thong bikini's are sick, body tight suits that Britney wears is sick etc.

Here is an argument that I have not heard made before:
The air waves that can be picked up by an atennae are "free" and as such available to everyone. Why should anything be prohibited just because one group or the other doesn't like it. Most televisions have the ability to only program in the channels they would like to watch. So lets lift any restrictions on what is available in this manner and if their are people who feel strongly enough that they want to insure that there is "no way, no how" that they want to have any thing objectionable in their home then let them pay for cable to "filter" the programming for them. Why make the majority of the people pay due to some people who complain. This doesn't apply to the superbowl incident since people had not been forewarned. Take all restrictions off, force broadcasters to introduce ratings standards and advertise what rating they are broadcasting. This will truly allow people to make the choice. Kind of like content filtering on the internet. If you want to insure that no way no how then you don't connect. If you want to be pretty sure then you pay for a service to filter. Or you trust your kids.

I didn't say it was OK for the boob to come out in the super bowl -but I was making the connection that that one incident is what brought us to where we are today wit the FCC! The christian right, Rush and Bush work real hard to continue to take away our rights. (Can you say Roe V Wade?)

Yes, MMD, like I said, I don't always agree with the policies of either party, but I do fell more closely aligned to the D party. I do believe that we need to protect our natural resources for future generations to enjoy, but I am also very realistic and acknowledge I like to participate in many of the activities you mention - I just believe that a fair environmental balance needs to be acheived, but groups like the sierra club will never allow that to occur. And by the way, I was, at one time, a member of that group. I no now longer support them or their policies. IMHO, they have gone from preservationists to obstructionists and possible push the envelope towards environmental terrorism.
