Thread: Alpha Gear Ratio Help

    I have a 92 Ultra 350 mag/alpha Gen 2 - 1.5 ratio with a High Five 21p SS prop. I bought a brand new alpha Gen2 - but it has a 1.81
ratio. The question I have is
    a) Should I re-gear it to a 1.5 (Is the 1.5 stronger)
    b) If I stayed with the 1.81 - Could I just just change to a 23p High Five with about the same results (MPH and WOT RPM)
    c) I'm confused - I think I need another beer!
    Please Help
    Thanks

    Most V-8 stuff I seen has a 1.46 or 1.5. 1.8 may be for a V-6
not sure how strong it is.

that ratio is for some v6 and some 4 cyl. u really will need to regear to a 1.5:1 or close. there are a few different ratios that will work.1.47:1, and even a 1.34:1...rare.

    Thanks,
Had ProBoats in San Dimas, Ca. rework the gears.... 1.47
re-proped from the High Five SS 21p to a 4 Blade SS 23p
what a difference!. Boat ran sweet for 9 Days at Havasu.
Boats ready for another 10 yrs.
Lookin for a good deal on a tunnel - 26-28' open bow.
