I was wondering if it is shorter to take the I10 to the 95(cali) on up to camp Moabi. As opposed to taking the I15 to the I40 to Moabi?:eek!:

15 to 40 is quite a bit shorter to Moabi / Needles.

I would have to say that from Redlands it would be better to go the 10 . The 15 sucks all the way to barstow. since Moabi is south of needles I would go rice rd. That way you can stop at parker and party, stop at Havasu and party, stop at Moabi and sleep

The fastest and shortest way to Moabi from Redlands is I 10 East to 62 North through 29 Palms. Then take Amboy Rd and National Trails Hwy (old 66). You'll join the I 40 around Goffs turnoff, about 40 miles or so from Needles. The construction on the 15 sucks, I've been going that way for the last summers. Amboy Rd could be better, but its way better than the 15 on a busy Sunday.

This is the shortest route, but a bit bumpy if you are towing a boat.

Thanks for all the replys. I like the drive through the 62 but going thru 29 palms is kinda time consuming with all that stop and go traffic. Maybe the 10 to the 95? If so which exit do i take from there? thanks

Towing boat not bad, towing 5th wheel, I will not do that again.
There is a short cut from Victorville around Barstow.
Ya get off on Bear Vally (?) head east, then( I dont know the names but check out a map) head north ( turn left) and puck up the 40.
Gets rid of a lot of traffic, faster that the 66.

We take this route all the time. Usually only takes us 4 hours (not towing) from Garden Grove to Needles. We even made it home in 3-1/2 hours on sunday night. We have towed on that route before and it does kind of suck but I think its a bit better than driving that crappy 15. I hate driving on the 15 thru the construction area.

If you're towing on the 40 watchout for the bridges!!! From Ludlow all the way to Needles every bridge crossing is very bumpy, I was towing home on Monday and almost lost my golf cart off my trailer. The closer you get to Needles away from Barstow the worse it gets.:frown:
