I run the 'Stern Powr' MX-07 drives on my 28 Cigarette. Drives are bulletproof! If you do happen to find that bullet to break it - good luck on finding parts.
Stern powr went out of business on Dec '02. Marysville marine out of Marysville, MI. did still have some parts last spring and you might try www.jtmperformancemarine.com.

I've had several mechanics locally (Dallas) come over to the boat and look at the drive because they've never seen one like it before.
I just called JTM Marine and the guy told me that Stern Power has been in and out of business several times over the years. He has plenty of parts both new and used. I think they are back in business at the current time.
So how reliable are these drives. What HP & torque are they capable of of taking.
If they are bitchen drives why hasnt they caught on in the west coast where big HP breaks bravo-1 drives?
My model 105 is supposedly rated for 650 hp. I'm currently putting 450 to it.
They guy at JTM told me that this boat:
