Its in pretty good shape overall. But the bumps just outside of Needles are still there. They are working on them so hopefully it will get better.
I was just wondering how the I40 road conditions were this past weekend. The last time I went out the 40 I almost lost the boat off the trailer the roads were so bad, every bridge between Ludlow and Needles had a big dropoff and when I would cross it my truck would slam forward and the boat trailer would jump. That was 3 weeks ago and I'm hoping the roads are better now.

Absolutely no change, there is that 20 mile stretch that has bumps at all the bridges. Just went thru there......yea straps on the boat to trailer a good thing right now.
Sounds like things haven't changed for several years..it was always like that when I took that route 5-10 years ago.
Those CalTrans guys have job security on the I40 route.
Went out this weekend....same condition...
Watch out for all of the Carlisle tire treads in the roadway...
Amazingly enough all the bumps are still there however I tried a new approch to them.
I set the cruise at 75 and maintained 74-76mph.
Gas consumption was reduced and the Needles bumps diddn't seem that bad.
Kinda makes ya go hummm???
Hummm, slower speed, = better results, could it be???

Cal-Trans, it seem to take for ever to finish their projects
Those bumbs have been there for 20+years. I think there is a fault running right though there. Just have to run slow going down that hill and watch others who don't know they are, there.
What is the projected finish date, 2050
