Not sure how big your looking to go but a friend of mine runs that 290 marine cam by comp and it runs pretty good. He had it in a stock 455 in a Rogers Cyclone. Our boats use to run dead even. I added dual carbs and can now outrun him. He is now building a 600-700 hp bbc so he says. He's a jet boat rookie so i think i'll still beat him.
I had my heads off for a broken valve spring and found cracks in them so im buying edelbrocks in a couple of weeks.

I personally run the comp cams marine grind 230@.50 .490/.490@110
Its a great cam for people like me that doesnt have adjustable valve train. I have heard that if you run .500 lift or more in a olds you need to upgrade the rockers to a roller. I dont know if its a fact or what but I like the fact I can just torque the bolts and go. No valve last setting with the stock bridges

i run a engle cam 248 258 at 50ths with a edelbrock performer manifold.it has a top speed of 64.2 on gps with me and the lady next to me.its got a great ruff idle.also a great hole shot.

Mine has a great holsehot but the power is mean at 3500 and up. I am only running 10-1 comp with a tunnel ram.

I run a CompCams 292 cam. Has 244/244 duration@.050 and a .518 lift. Boat runs much better since putting the motor together. The stock rocker assembly is aluminum and will not hold up to the stronger spring pressures that the new cam will require. Rollers or at least the Olds diesel steel rockers will work. But I hear Modello's dual pattern jetboat cam works really well also. Specs are listed at Mondellotwister.com

Also with the fatter cam profile, I was told the performer would be too restrictive, that a Torker would breathe better. Moves the powerband further up in RPM's. You need a single plane intake and if you put on a 1" spacer, you should pick up a few hundred rpm.
