Obviously never as good as headers, but for what it's worth, I know a guy with a v-drive w/logs, and he comes out of the hole at 8200 rpm, so...
....the logs may also be port-able for improved flow characterisitcs...

The Advantage has a bbf, closed engine with Hardin logs. I kinda like having a cruiser, and I guess that means keeping the TT logs. Question is, I'll be hitting the wall soon, and the logs will be the reason. How much can I expect get out of this setup before headers are mandatory? Lightnings aren't even close to being in the budget, either. :frown:

I'm not sure how much it will apply to you, but for what its worth.
We did and experiment with my bother-in-laws 21 Howard V-drive. We removed his logs and put basset headers on his boat and found no increase in RPM. He has a BBC with 525 HP.
Kinda what I was thinking. Very little if any scavenging, but from strictly a flow point of view, I can open them up a little more. I can install 4" tips, too, but I hate to get further away from original. I'll have to find a point of compromise I'm comfortable with.......
Been there done that. I have center rise manifolds and was thinking they were restrictive, bought a set of lightnings and they made no diff what so ever. That and the adaptor plates suck.
put turbo's on the end of the logs
