Permatex makes a thread sealer that should work for you:

I have a very minor oil leak on my Olds 455 where the oil sending unit plumbs into the top of the timing chain housing. Is there something I can put on the threads like that white "tape" stuff to prevent this? I'm thinking oil will break down the "tape" and I'll have the same problem. Any thoughts are much appreciated!

Kick ass! Thanks for the lead!
Oil won't break down the teflon tape, BUT...............
Pieces of the tape can get inside the oil system, float around and plug up oiling holes or passages.
Never use tape on oil lines or threads.
I'll second 572Daytonas recommendation, I've been using that sealer for a while now, works great.
Tape works fine as long as you're careful how you wrap it on. I've had the liquid leak on high pressure oil before.
We prefer the liquid sealant in a tube over Teflon tape since tape can flake off and travel through the oiling system. (http://www.streetchopperweb.com/tech/0106stc_tech/)
WARNING - DO NOT USE TEFLON TAPE OR ANY OTHER SEALANTS ON ANY OIL FEED ... (http://www.granatellimotorsports.com/pdf/manual18.pdf)
I have to side with King on this one. I don't use it on fuel systems for the same reason.
i pulled my olds last weekend to take care of the same leak. I used the liquid sealant. As carefull as you can be a little piece of the tape may come apart and get stuck in your oil pump.
