my clearences are at.0020-.0025 on the mains, with #5 main cap at .0030. my rods are at .0020. hope this lends a helping hand.....
What should they be on a 460 that turns 5000 rpm's in a jet boat.
Just had block line boared and Im fixing to go check them

Well I got .0025 on #1 main and all the rest were .002 also the thrust was .006.did not check the rods.
Too tight. BBFs like more clearance. Try .0035" The cast crank with 3" mains need more clearance.
I cant remember the numbers but i looked at a manual for clearances for a bbf and had my machinist regrind the crank(needed to go to .010)And make the clearances on the upper limit.I use to turn it to 5k.My thinking was this is a boat motor heat will be increased as well as load.It worked out very well for my set up
So how do I change the clearance sand on the bearing either on the babbit or the back side or Do I sand on the block sadddle and cap.
Oh yeah crank is already at .020 on the rods and mains and he did a polish job on the crank.
you hace to plastigage the assembly see what journals are tight have a machinist turn the crank to get them looser.Need to know math good
