Thats cool
After 3 1/2 months I finally shipped this job to Mexico.
This is an underground gas drill, they use this in some coal mines to de-gas the mine and collect the naturally occuring methane gas that used to be vented from coal mines or would require shutting the mine down- OR cause a major explosion.
Today they collect the gas and make millions off of what they used to throw away.
This drill is used to drill a 3" hole along the coal seam up to 6000'
deep- this is a horizontal hole as opposed to the verticle holes they used to drill for gas, they then put a casing pipe into the hole to a certain depth and concrete it in, then they use vacume pumps to collect the gas. several people I have talked to recently have expressed an interest in seeing some pictures so here they are.
