I think its 90 wt, Penzoil(sp.).............The same as gear oil for car or truck. I got the tube from West marine.
I was wondering what type of grease to use on a Berkley pump when greasing it?? Can I use the same grease for the Jet-O-Vator?

thanks....that's makes it easy.
There is a difference between grease and oil.
You put your choice of 90 wt in the bowl, outside the boat.
Ya put grease, (I use mobil 1, the red stuff,) in the zerk fitting by the bearing inside the boat, close to the drive shaft. Dont forget you u joints too.
After I grease, i take the lid of a 30 pk or coors, and make a cover for the 1st time I start it. It will fling grease everywhere. The cover helps keep it off the headers.
The color of the grease you use is not important. What is important is that you use a quality Lithium based grease with Extreme Pressure (EP) additives. Some recommended products are:
Sta Lube "Sta-Plex EP"
Shell "Alvania #2
Valvoline "Val-Plex EP"
Mobillith AW2
Remember that greases have different base materials such as lithium, aluminum, sodium etc. Different bases are not compatible and lubrication falure may occure if you mix them. Read the label and don't mix.
Any type of oil from 10w30 to 90w gear oil is fine for the bowl. Just keep it full!!!!
Duane from HiTech told me specifically NOT to use a lithium based grease because it mixes easily with water and breaks down.
hmmm?
