A couple of my buddies have them and my brother in law HAD one. Fast trucks but they drink gas......they are all averaging 10mpg not towing......also had problems with fit and finish....the interiors were falling apart. My brother in law just lemon lawed his because of an electrical problem...where his horn would go off for no reason and couldn't be stopped unless he disconnected the battery. Something to do with the ignition and factory alarm....anyway he's got a Chevy Silverado now and is much happier.

Aren't the newer ones come with variable 8/4 cyl setup to get better milage ?
I've heard the new 07 Tahoe/Yukon will !
I'm on my 3rd Dodge since converting from a die-hard bow-tie fan. I have had less problems with my 3 Dodges than my GM stuff. I now drive and tow with a 2004 Hemi Durango rated for 7,700#. I just pulled the Cobalt home from Havi and averaged 11 mpg towing. That is hand calc'd. Computer shows our long term average of towing and not towing at 14.3 MPG. It gets about 16 not towing on the HWY. Mine is also a full-time AWD. The trucks pull well and unless you are over 7,500# I would not hesitate. We also pull a 25' travel trailer with no issues. No fit or finish problems with mine. We did have to have a TSB done for a re-program on the A/C because it would shut down when the motor was working hard and not come back on. Re-flashed the ecu and it was good to go.
You may want to shop for a new one because there are some special financing options and rebates going on that may get you close to a used truck payment.
The dealers offer 7K cashback right now ,with 0 % financing . I had my share of mopars in the past ,and other than fit and finish ,their engines were outstanding in reliability for me. I sold my 72 Challenger with 90k miles on ,and it ran like new then. I'm on my 3rd Jeep ,and never had engine problems either. Had some minor electrical issues that I just dealt with myself. My only problem is, the dealers low balling me on my pristine 98 GC LTD ,with only 115K kilometers .
I have a ram with a 5.7 Hemi. It's not the sprot deal so I don't have the hood scoop.
It's nice and drives very well. Super snappy around town. As far as towing it can't come close to comparing to our 8.1L Burban. They get about the same gas millage. 11 ~ 12, in town with my lead foot and 15 ~ 16 highway. The Dodge sure drives and handles alot better.
SD , shouldn't your Hemi would have similar power as the Burb ? Or the gear ratio is better on the chevy for towing. What's the tranny in yours ? My concern about the dodge is the tranny. I remember back in the 70's the guys with the 727 torqflite were bummed burning them up in less than 2 yrs. I had the 833 gearbox with hurst comp pistol grip in my challenger and a 4 spd in the 68 barracuda .The new big three larger trucks in 07 will all come with the allison I've heard .

The new trannys are holding up well unless they are behind a juiced up Cummins with 1000 lb/ft or torque. My Durango 5spd auto has 25,000 miles and many are towing miles. Its holding up fine. Had an old Durango with similar miles towing a 21' Lavey and had no issues. Had a Cummins 4spd auto with no issues before it got hit hard at about 15k and traded in on the new Durango.
dude! i know my boat isnt that heavy, but i get 15 mpg to the river and back, no matter if im towing or not...decent as hell for the HEMI....i was sceptical about buying a dodge in the first place, but since the hemi isnt much of a dodge engine, im fine. and its a great truck brand new out the door for only 21k. it was sitting at cerritos dodge for like 4 months collecting dust and thats prolly why i got it for so cheap!

nice truck, but look for a lower price
