How can it not be compatible if you don't know what he has already?
First design Gen II used the same yoke assy as the Alpha I. There are MANY different Yoke / coupler designs depending on the serial number break. If you give me your serial number and the serial number of the drive you are looking at I can tell you whether it will work or not.
