It's a never ending battle on how fast you want to go. Get the 525 and that will keep you happy for about two years, then you'll start thinking about the 575 SC. Hey it,s only money.

if your thinking about it now go with a 540 , if its money right now go with the ho it a much better starting point when you decide to up grade that one

I started with the 496 MAG HO, then put a Whipple on it, then built my Whippled 565....

Buy the 496mag. With the 5K you will save you can put our 525 HP kit on the motor for about 7K total and you will have a nice set up with more torque than a HP525 at about 15K less. Consider specifying it with the XR outdrive instead of a standard Bravo, this is extra money well spent.

As Raylar says, go with the upgrade drive. Some boat builders include the drive upgrade as part of the cost increase for the HO while others separate the two. With Advantage the HO price includes the Bravo X while the Mag comes with a stock Bravo. It may not be alot more to get the drive and horsepower now as a package.
